Introduction

Module 8 aims to familiarise foreign language educators with current assessment practices, strategies, and techniques of learning outcomes. To be empowered and further equipped in this task they will learn:

  • How learning outcomes are defined by key competence domains.
  • To construct learning outcomes taking into consideration the taxonomies of teaching objectives.
  • About the different purposes for assessing learning outcomes.
  • About practical assessment tools.

Learning Outcomes

After successfully completing this module learners will be:

  • Familiarised with key competency domains which play a significant part in defining learning outcomes.
  • Able to engage into creating and formulating learning outcomes after being introduced to taxonomies of teaching objectives.
  • Be informed about traditional and current assessment practices of learner-centered teaching and will be able to employ them in their teaching plans.
  • Able to identify the main purposes for assessing learning outcomes and key assessment strategies and techniques.

Duration

Participants will need approximately three and a half hours to go through this module. The time for going through suggested resources for further reading is additional.

Requirements

Learners, to participate, will need basic ICT literacy and the means to connect to the internet.
